Elevated Basics - Grey Ruffle Top

Because I'm a fan of dressier tops, I hardly wear basics and tend to gravitate towards more prints and playful trends. What I really like about this top from Nordstrom is the simplicity of the style mixed with the ruffles that are making a huge splash this season. Although it is more on the casual side, the top easily becomes a statement piece in the outfit and the ruffle elevates the entire look.

In addition to my grey knit, a new favorite to my accessory collection is this gem of a clutch that I purchased at a Rebecca Minkoff pop up shop at The Grove a couple months back. Although it doesn't carry that much inside, it's super sleek and the faux leather quality is top notch. The scribbled message just brings it home for me with its empowering reminder as I'm sure it does to all the badass women out there.

How do you like to mix up your neutrals and play it up?

Bronze Off the Shoulder Top

In my wardrobe, I own a lot of navy, tan, and black pieces (of course), but I naturally do not gravitate towards bronze or any brown tones. It's a color I never thought looked great on me, and with that assumption, I avoided it and continue to stack on more of my neutral favorites. However, over the past couple of months as my style continues to evolve and I'm being more experimental with new trends and colors, I love discovering new pieces that challenges you to think differently.

When I stumbled upon this bronze off the shoulder top at Zara, it has such a natural glitz and glam that it was hard to miss in the store. I love anything that sparkles so it immediately caught my attention. Normally with any brown top, it's usually a pass for me, but this top has such an effortless sophistication and playful tone, I knew it would be a fun piece to add to my collection. What I've learned with fashion is to give everything a try and any color, style or trend can look good on anybody if you give it a chance.

Were there any colors that you disliked wearing and suddenly became a fan of it later in life?

Good Bye to Faux Fur Jackets

Now that we're about to head into summer, I'm going to have to bid farewell to my beloved faux fur jacket and embrace more lightweight and airy fabrics. Although this jacket is a winter staple, it's still a great neutral if you live in a cold environment for the majority of the calendar year. It instantly elevates any look with an effortless sophistication and extravagance. Because of the formal aesthetic of the jacket, I always like to keep the rest of the pieces minimal or very casual to tone down the outfit. For instance, my Mickey tee and high waisted jeans is such a relaxed look alone that throwing on the jacket gives more dimension.

I can't wait until November hits again when I can spring this beauty out again, but in the meantime towards the back of the closet you shall go.

Are there any winter staples or trends you're currently having withdrawals?

Spring Glam

It's been forever since I've uploaded a blog post! With the craziness of juggling a second job, I haven't allocated any time to blog which I truly enjoy doing, so it's nice to jump back into the swing of things! Within the next coming weeks, I'm going to post more than normal to play catch up with all the spring outfits, but I'm excited to share with you a ton of what I've been working on as it's my favorite season for fashion.
I don't have any special occasions for this season where I need to glam up, but every now and then I like to incorporate fun elements that feels dressy. Take this blouse for example. With inspiration from the Victorian era, the billowy sleeves and the lace detailing brings out the elegant aesthetic that instantly give it a more formal look. In order to style the outfit for a more casual vibe, I pair the blouse with blue jeans and metallic shoes which helps address the glamour of the outfit while maintaining that playful, everyday look.

What are some of your favorite spring details for dressing up an outfit?
